'Pretty Little Liars' Reboot Series Canceled After 2 Seasons at Max
The Pretty Little Liars sequel/reboot at Max has concluded after two seasons.
The streamer has canceled the show, a horror-infused spin on the 2010 ABC Family/Freeform mystery. The decision comes nearly three months after PLL's second season, Summer School, wrapped out in June.

"While Max will not be moving forward with a third season of Pretty Little Liars, we are so grateful to our co-creators, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring, as well as the team at Warner Bros. Television, for reintroducing fans to this new iteration of liars who band together to fight the latest creepy villain terrifying Millwood," according to Max's statement. "Their unique and modern creative vision — combined with the immense talent of our cast and crew — gave the series a fun, horror-filled point of view that paid tribute to its original Rosewood roots."
Season two concluded with a preview of further potential scares, depicting a group of females wearing masks matching the five Liars going down the hallway of their high school. However, the image will be left hanging.
In September 2020, the Pretty Little Liars reboot was ordered straight to series by what was then known as HBO Max. The first season, dubbed Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, premiered on July 28, 2022, and was renewed for a second season immediately after its finale.
Bailee Madison, Chandler Kinney, Zaria, Malia Pyles, Maia Reficco, Mallory Bechtel, Sharon Leal, Alex Aiono, Jordan Gonzalez, and Elias Kacavas appeared in season two. The Warner Bros. TV series was executive produced by Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale) and Bring, together with PLL creator Marlene King, Leslie Morgenstein, Gina Girolamo of Alloy Entertainment, and Michael Grassi.
TVLine was first to announce the cancellation.
