Spider-Man 4 Update! Tom Holland Shares He and Zendaya Have Reviewed the Script, But It's Not Quite Web-slinging Ready Yet
Tom Holland is looking forward to Spider-Man 4, stating that he saw a draft of the script a few weeks ago with co-star and girlfriend Zendaya.
However, he recently commented on the Rich Roll Podcast, "it needs work, but the writers are doing a great job."

Last month, The Hollywood Reporter exclusively revealed that Destin Daniel Cretton was in talks to direct the fourth movie of the superhero franchise, succeeding Jon Watts.
"One thing to keep in mind with Marvel is that your film is a small cog in a large machine," Holland said of Spider-Man 4's development process. "And that machine needs to keep operating. And you must ensure that you can fit into that timeframe at the appropriate moment to serve the greater good. That is one of the issues we are confronting. The time frame in which we need to complete that task is a large order, but it is certainly possible given the amazing people we have working on it right now."
The Crowded Room star noted that the film's crew already has "a creative, a pitch, and a draft, which is fantastic."
"It needs work, but the writers are doing a great job," he said. "I read it three weeks ago, and it greatly inspired me. Zendaya and I sat down and read it together, and we were dancing around the living room, saying, 'This is a true movie worthy of the fans' respect.' But there are a few things we need to work out before we can really get started, but it's fantastic."
Holland has played Peter Parker/Spider-Man in three stand-alone films, siding with Zendaya as MJ: 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home, and 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home. He has also participated in several more Marvel films, including Avengers: Endgame (2019) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018).
Last year, the actor told Collider that he was willing to reprise his superhero role, but only provided the script did "justice to the character."
"I feel very protective over Spider-Man," he explained at the time. "I feel extremely fortunate that we were able to work on a franchise that improved with each movie and became more successful with each movie, which I believe is quite unique, and I want to preserve his legacy. So, I'm not going to make another one just to make another one. It'll have to be worthwhile for the character."
