As part of the agreement, Amazon MGM Studios will oversee the future productions of the James Bond franchise, building upon the legacy of the beloved series. This development comes on the heels of Amazon's acquisition of MGM in 2022, which included a vast library of films and TV shows, including the James Bond catalog.
Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, expressed his gratitude to the Broccoli family for their dedication to the franchise. "We are honored to continue this treasured heritage and look forward to ushering in the next phase of the legendary 007 for audiences worldwide," Hopkins stated.
Wilson, who is stepping back from producing James Bond films, emphasized his trust in Amazon MGM Studios to lead the franchise into the future. Barbara Broccoli echoed this sentiment, citing her desire to focus on other projects while allowing Amazon MGM Studios to take the creative helm.
This joint venture arrives amidst speculation surrounding Bond 26, the next installment in the 007 franchise, following Daniel Craig's departure in 2021's No Time to Die. As Amazon MGM Studios assumes creative control, fans can expect a new era for the James Bond franchise.
