'Avengers: Doomsday' Cast Announced with Surprises, Including X-Men and Fantastic Four Stars

‎After six years since the release of Avengers: Endgame, which became one of the highest-grossing films of all time, Marvel Studios is once again assembling the Avengers for Avengers: Doomsday. As production gears up in London next month, the studio has begun revealing its cast via a livestream event.

‎The initial cast list for Avengers: Doomsday includes a blend of familiar MCU faces alongside new and exciting additions. Among the returning stars are Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Danny Ramirez (The Falcon), and Winston Duke (M’Baku).
‎Also featured in the ensemble are notable actors from the X-Men franchise, including Patrick Stewart, who reprises his role as Charles Xavier, and Kelsey Grammer, who returns as Beast after his appearance in X-Men: The Last Stand and The Marvels. Furthermore, members of the Fantastic Four cast have been included: Vanessa Kirby as The Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as The Human Torch.
‎The Thunderbolts universe is also represented, with Lewis Pullman (Bob) joining the cast, alongside David Harbour (Red Guardian) and Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost).
‎In a surprising turn, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, who portrayed the Submariner in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, was confirmed as part of the cast. Despite facing accusations of sexual misconduct in mid-2023—a claim he vehemently denied—Huerta's appearance suggests a strong relationship with Marvel, as he reappeared at the premiere of Marvel’s Echo and continues his involvement in the MCU.
‎The announcement of Avengers: Doomsday at San Diego Comic-Con in July caused a stir, particularly with the revelation that Robert Downey Jr. would return to the MCU after his character Iron Man’s death in Endgame. Downey’s return reunites him with directors Anthony and Joe Russo, who also departed the MCU following Endgame. Kevin Feige, Marvel’s President, pitched Downey on a new role as Doom, while Downey helped convince the Russo Brothers to return after spending time in the streaming world. The Russo Brothers’ involvement came after Stephen McFeely, their frequent collaborator, pitched a unique take on the film.
‎Avengers: Doomsday is slated for release on May 1, 2026, followed by the highly anticipated Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027.
